Peter Quarmby appointed to Board of INAISE
Peter Quarmby, Executive Director of Community Sector Banking (CSB), has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Investors in the Social Economy (INAISE).
INAIS is a global network of social banking institutions and investors. INAISE facilitates links between social investors from throughout the world in order for them to exchange experience, disseminate information and demonstrate that the judicious use of money can be a means to achieve positive social and environmental change.
Mr Quarmby was voted to the INAISE Board of Directors while attending the World Social Finance Summit, hosted by INAISE, held in Quebec in early June 2008. The Summit comprised over 150 delegates from 42 countries.
Mr Quarmby attended the Summit representing CSB, the only member of INAISE from Australia. The focus of the Summit was on the development of strategies to organise financial practices internationally that stimulate lasting change to forge fair and just access to responsible financial resources for sustainable development.
Mr Quarmby said today: "This honour is an acknowledgement of the growing reputation and role that CSB is playing internationally in the area of social banking and investment.
We are all aware of the social and economic challenges faced in the world today and I will be working with my fellow Board members to forward the objectives of INAISE to meet those challenges. That is, to bring about lasting change to the way that banking and finance processes operate worldwide in order to contribute to socially just sustainable development."
