Community Engagements
CSB's community engagements include initiatives that address a social need and that also realise a reasonable financial return for investors. As a result, often funds are made available for further investment in community enterprises, not-for-profit organisations and partnerships with business associates to assist in making community sector organisations more productive and sustainable.
Shelter Housing Action Cairns (SHAC)
CSB has also operated a micro-finance program in the Cairns region in conjunction with Shelter Housing Action Cairns (SHAC). The program was established in response to an increasing problem of families that are unable to access affordable finance to purchase essential household goods. SHAC is a local community organisation that specialises in supporting families and individuals on low incomes, particularly regarding the provision of crisis housing.
Tasmanian Community Housing Property Trust
Community Sector Banking (CSB) has been working with STEPS (a not-for-profit community organisation) in Tasmania and the Tasmanian Community Housing Property Trust to enable the Trust to provide a unique contribution to the development of affordable rental housing for people on low incomes.
